Indoor Air Quality Solutions for a Healthier Home

A Smarter Approach to Indoor Air Quality

At Gra-Tac Heating & Cooling, improving your indoor air starts with a simple philosophy: Find It. Fix It. Feel Better.

Every home and business has unique air quality challenges. That’s why we focus on accurate testing and customized solutions, so you get results that actually make a difference, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Comprehensive Indoor Air Quality Testing

The first step is understanding what’s in your air. We test for the most common contributors to poor indoor air quality, including:

  • Temperature imbalances
  • Humidity levels
  • Carbon dioxide (CO₂)
  • Carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Airborne particles like dust and pollen
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

According to the EPA, indoor air can be up to five times more polluted than outdoor air. These pollutants can lead to irritation, headaches, dizziness, and may even contribute to more serious respiratory issues or worsen allergies and asthma.

For more information, read the EPA’s Basic Information about Indoor Air Quality.

Customized Solutions That Fit Your Space

Once we identify the source of the problem, we create a solution tailored specifically to your home or office.

In some cases, improving air quality is as simple as source control, such as adjusting cleaning methods or switching products. In other situations, issues may stem from:

  • Poor HVAC maintenance
  • Low-quality or clogged air filters
  • Dirty or leaking ductwork
  • Indoor pollutants from pets, chemicals, or combustion appliances
  • Off-gassing from building materials and furnishings

We walk you through your options so you can confidently choose the best path forward.

Improve Airflow, Filtration & Air Treatment

Cleaner indoor air often requires a combination of strategies, including:

  • Increasing air circulation
  • Removing stale indoor air and bringing in fresh outdoor air
  • Upgrading filtration systems
  • Treating the air with advanced indoor air quality products

High-Performance Air Filtration Systems

For maximum air purification, we offer a five-stage filtration system that includes:

  • 1” pre-filter for larger particles
  • 2” pre-filter for smaller visible particles
  • Activated carbon filter for odor control
  • True HEPA filter (99.97% efficiency)
  • Ozone-free UV germicidal lamp

This system is installed directly into your ductwork with its own fan, making it ideal for larger homes, offices, or those seeking the highest level of air purification.

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

The Bryant Evolution Whole-House Air Purifier features MERV 15 filtration with Captures & Kills® technology, removing up to 95% of particles between 0.3–1.0 microns. Many homeowners with allergies report noticeable improvements and reduced reliance on medication.

Flexible Filtration Options

We also install a variety of filtration systems to match your needs:

  • Bryant EZ Flex Filters (MERV 10 & 13) – Ideal for hard-to-reach areas like attics or crawlspaces
  • Filter Grille Media Filters – Available in MERV 8–13 options for central return grilles
  • Standard Filters – Minimum 1” thick, MERV 6 or higher, sized to ACCA guidelines

Understanding MERV Ratings

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) measures how effectively a filter captures airborne particles:

  • MERV 1–4: Basic filters, capture less than 20% of larger particles
  • MERV 6: Captures 35–50% of particles (recommended minimum)
  • MERV 8: Captures over 70% of particles
  • MERV 11: Captures 85%+ of larger particles and 65–80% of smaller ones
  • MERV 13: Captures 90%+ of both large and small particles
  • MERV 15: High-efficiency filtration for advanced air cleaning

While lower-rated filters may seem cost-effective, they allow more dust and debris into your system, leading to clogged components and reduced efficiency over time.

Humidity Control for Year-Round Comfort

Humidification (Winter)

Steam humidifiers help maintain comfortable moisture levels in colder months, allowing you to feel warmer at lower temperatures while supporting easier breathing and protecting wood furnishings.

Dehumidification (Summer)

From standalone units for basements and crawlspaces to whole-home systems integrated with your HVAC, dehumidifiers help control excess moisture. Many modern systems include built-in dehumidification features for added convenience.

Advanced Air Treatment Technologies

We offer cutting-edge air purification solutions designed to target airborne contaminants at a deeper level:

  • UV Air Treatment Systems – Help maintain clean coil surfaces and improve air quality
  • iWave Cold Plasma Devices – Reduce odors, airborne particles, bacteria, mold, and VOCs
  • REME HALO® Zero – Uses advanced technology to reduce airborne contaminants at the source
  • Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) – Bring in fresh, filtered air while maintaining energy efficiency in tightly sealed homes

*Claims regarding bacteria, viruses, mold, and odor reduction are based on manufacturer testing. Results may vary depending on installation and environmental factors.

Cleaner air means better comfort, improved health, and a more efficient HVAC system. Whether you need testing, filtration upgrades, or advanced air treatment solutions, Gra-Tac Heating & Cooling is here to help.
